Stuart N. Green, M.D.

Dr. Stuart N. Green joined the Retina-Vitreous Center in 1980. He obtained his undergraduate degree from Tufts University in Boston. He received his M.D. degree from Mount Sinai Medical School in New York City, where he was valedictorian of his class. He remained at Mount Sinai for his internship and residency in ophthalmology, before obtaining further training as a fellow in vitreoretinal disease and surgery at the prestigious Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami. Dr. Green was also elected by his peers for inclusion in Best Doctors in America® from 1996 to 2008.

Dr. Green is Board Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. He is also a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Medical Association, the Vitreous Society, the New Jersey Medical Society, the New Jersey Academy of Ophthalmology, and is past president of the New Jersey Retina Society.

Dr. Green is Associate Professor and Chairman of Ophthalmology at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. He is also the Chairman of Ophthalmology at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital and serves on the staff of St. Peter's Medical Center in New Brunswick, NJ, Kimball Medical Center in Lakewood, NJ, Jersey Shore Medical Center in Neptune, NJ, Community Medical Center in Toms River, NJ, and the Medical Center of Ocean County in Brick, NJ.

Dr. Green has researched, published, and lectured at national meetings on numerous topics in ophthalmology, including diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, endophthalmitis, myopic degeneration, pneumatic retinopexy and temporary balloon scleral buckle surgery for retinal detachment. He has also been a Principal Investigator in several national clinical trials.
