Steven R. Leff, M.D.

Dr. Steven R. Leff joined the Retina-Vitreous Center in 1986. He obtained his undergraduate degree from Columbia University in New York City, graduating summa cum laude. He also received his M.D. degree from Columbia University, with Phi Beta Kappa honors. Dr. Leff performed his residency in ophthalmology at Albert Einstein College of Medicine/Montefiore Hospital in New York City. He then became a fellow in vitreoretinal disease and surgery at the Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia.

Dr. Leff is Board Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. He is also a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Medical Association, the Vitreous Society, the Wills Eye Hospital Society, the New Jersey Academy of Ophthalmology, and the New Jersey Retina Society.

Dr. Leff is Associate Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. He serves on the staff of the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital and St. Peter's Medical Center in New Brunswick, NJ, Kimball Medical Center in Lakewood, NJ, Raritan Bay Medical Center in Old Bridge, NJ, Jersey Shore Medical Center in Neptune, NJ, and the Medical Center of Ocean County in Brick, NJ.

Dr. Leff has researched, published, and lectured at national meetings on numerous topics in ophthalmology, including diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, endophthalmitis, retinal hemangioma, choroidal melanoma, retinitis pigmentosa, retinal vascular occlusion, ocular coloboma, pneumatic retinopexy and temporary balloon scleral buckle surgery for retinal detachment. He has also been a Principal Investigator in several national clinical trials.
