David L. Yarian, M.D.

Dr. David L. Yarian joined the Retina-Vitreous Center in 1979. He obtained his undergraduate degree from Washington University in St. Louis, graduating summa cum laude. He also received his M.D. degree, and was a resident in ophthalmology at Washington University, with Phi Beta Kappa and Alpha Omega Alpha honors. Further training in vitreoretinal disease and surgery was acquired as a fellow at the prestigious Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami. Dr. Yarian was also elected by his peers for inclusion in Best Doctors in America® from 1996 to 2008.

Dr. Yarian is a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American College of Surgeons. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. He is also a member of the American Medical Association, the Vitreous Society, the New Jersey Academy of Ophthalmology, and is past president of the New Jersey Retina Society.

Dr. Yarian is Associate Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. He serves on the staff of the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital and St. Peter's Medical Center in New Brunswick, NJ, Kimball Medical Center in Lakewood, NJ, St. Francis Medical Center in Trenton, NJ, and JFK Medical Center in Edison, NJ.

Dr. Yarian has researched, published, and lectured at national meetings on numerous topics in ophthalmology, including diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, endophthalmitis, macular hole, retinal hemangioma, retinitis pigmentosa, pars planitis, choroidal melanoma, pneumatic retinopexy and temporary balloon scleral buckle surgery for retinal detachment. He has also been a Principal Investigator in several national clinical trials.
